How the protocol works

The Science behind scar healing and the protocol build around it

Your healing with Scar Protocol begins today. In this video, Dr. Sajan explains the science of surgical scar healing and why each curated phase matters.

The formula philosophy

Why a scar needs more than one formula?

The post-surgery scar healing process does not happen all at once. It moves through different stages of recovery, and each stage asks something different of your skin.

How the protocol works

Five phases. One healing timeline.

Your skin moves through different phases of scar healing after surgery. Each phase of Scar Protocol is formulated for the stage you are in, and nothing is introduced before your skin is ready.

Scar Protocol Phase I cleanser and ointment

Phase I – Cleanse & Prepare

Stage: Pre-op → wound closure

What it does?

Cleans without stripping, calms redness, and keeps the barrier intact so healing begins on stable skin.

How to use?

2 weeks before surgery → Week 2 after. Cleanser continues through all five phases.

Scar Protocol Phase II ointment

Phase II – Calm & Hydrate

Stage: Proliferation — weeks 2–6

What it does?

Soothes irritation and holds moisture in the forming scar. Hydrated scar tissue signals skin to regulate collagen; dry scars stay raised.

How to use?

Twice daily, 4 weeks.

Scar Protocol Phase III ointment

Phase III – Repair & Renew

Stage: Early remodelling — weeks 6–12

What it does?

Supports skin renewal with hydration and glycoproteins while the scar is actively changing.

How to use?

Twice daily, for 6 weeks. Do not skip this phase. Continued application through remodeling is the best way to support scar healing after surgery, and it shapes the final result.

Scar Protocol Phase IV ointment

Phase IV – Protect & Strengthen

Stage: Late remodelling — months 3–6

What it does?

Shields new skin with antioxidants and barrier oils; gently evens tone.

How to use?

Twice daily, 3 months, with daily SPF. Starting point for existing scars under a year old.

Scar Protocol Phase V ointment

Phase V – Refine & Even

Stage: Maturation — months 6–16

What it does?

Encourages turnover and collagen organisation with retinol — introduced only once skin is mature enough to tolerate it — buffered by barrier-repair lipids.

How to use?

Nightly, 16 months, then maintenance. Starting point for mature scars over a year old.
